Tor Hougen, Eric and Donna Prust got to know each other by playing together at bluegrass jams around Livermore, CA in the late 90's.
It was discovered that they all shared a deep appreciation of old-time recordings, and they began playing old-time tunes together.
Eventually their weekend bluegrass jams ended, and they began recording on primitive home recording gear (mixes were never saved).
The Prust's now live on eight acres in Sequim, Washington (near Port Townsend) and Tor continues to live in the SF East Bay Area.
Most of the recordings currently take place when the three are together in Washington (about every three months).
At the moment, both Eric and Tor use Pro Tools LE and have Digi 002 consoles and use better microphones.
Tor then takes the mixes back home and mixes them in his home studio.
Most of their tunes typically use various combinations of the banjo, fiddle, guitar and bass.
Tor usually sings lead and plays guitar, clawhammer banjo, mandolin, juice harp and whatever else inspires him!
Eric usually sings backup vocals and more instruments than you can imagine, and you'll hear more of him on our latest recordings.
Not many realize that he's often playing banjo, fiddle and occasionally mandolin (on separate tracks) on the tune they're listening to!
Donna Prust plays the bass and also sings lead occasionally...she is really quite a singer...we can only hope she'll sing more often!
