Performing on the north pole

2008-02-25

Performing on the north pole???? Well, that's not far from the truth. We're going to play at the world's northernmost nightclub, THE HOUSE on the island of Svalbard in the beginning of May. Just got it confirmed. It's going to be very exotic. One gig only but we know it's gonna be great. Whale and polar bear safari and a ale or 10 at the great big and famous Carlsberger Pub would be just too foolish to decline. Looking forward to it. We hope to film the whole gig and put it out here on CYQO. At least parts of it because we think it's gonna turn out special. Longyearbyen is a coal miner town with 2000 souls from several different nations. Mostly Europeans but also Americans and Asians. Some are working there beacuse the pay is good and there are no taxes whatsoever. Others are there because it's a different world to anything they have experienced before. Some says they've found the true meaning of life up north between the snowy and ice-covered mountains of Svalbard, away from crime, trafficjams and the big cities. Svalbard is a spectacular place indeed and the people living there are really nice. We've never played there before but now we're going. We can hardly wait..

Thanks Mike.

Yes, they're awsome. They're like NOME in Alaska and SIBERIA in Russia. The light caused by the sun's arrival in February/March are the most beautiful sight. We have something like it in Norway at the same time of the year but not so intence and powerful. It's like an atomic explotion of colors. It's definately natures own art. By the way, Longyearbyen are located at 78* N. Svalbard is a part of the kingdom of Norway. I wanna go there today :-D
