DELETE Issue SOLVED | |

cool website: http://www.unsignedmetal.com Listening to: http://www.cyqo.com/Boomy Podcast enclosure: DELETE Issue SOLVED 2008-01-27 This is a message concerning all Cyqo Music Artists, and a few fans who just want to know what's up:A Little History When artists first started coming to Cyqo Music they were able to freely upload music, and delete tracks they didn't want. This was OK but lead to four problems... 1. User's playlists were getting all screwed up. This is a bad user experience. 2. We lost some REALLY GOOD music, which was a little frustrating. 3. Artists were uploading and deleting the same song everyday to stay on top of the New Music list. 4. Artist Top Charts ranking would be totally thrown off due to deleting playlist adds. So I took the delete button off a while ago. In the meantime I talked to about ten artists and asked them what they think should happen. Nobody had a real good solution, but liked the one I proposed. Solution I proposed and implemented a system which takes into account both aspects of the site. Artists and Fans. I don't want Artists feeling stuck with their old music on the page. On the other hand I don't want Users ticked off at their favorite band for deleting a demo track and screwing up their playlist. So I gave each Artist a "Demo Section". Now Artists can move songs to their Demo Archive, and the fan gets to keep the song. However, no new user can add the song to a playlist. These songs can be shown or hidden on the Artist's homepage, and taken out of the Demo Section at anytime as well. I hope you find this new section a valuable way to archive your band's history. Please let me know if you find any bugs. Or just want to leave me a comment about it I am all ears. Mike << Back to the blog | Message mike | mike's me page Tags: Cyqo news | |
