cool website: http:// Listening to: Podcast enclosure: New project in the making... 2008-10-25 I am happy to announce a new collaberation in the making. I recently met Scott at work and we decided to exchange music. Turns out we have much in common. You can visit his site here,XxNeFeRuxX Recently we have been working on a song together. When he came over I recorded his guitar riffs. If it werent for his guitar recordings this mix wouldnt exist, dark eyes extended demo - LetterstotheDevil We both agree this is going to be something good and different. Soon we will be finishing our live guitars and vocals for the final mix. The best part is we have a damn good time recording together. Click to Comment Tags:
Software... | |

cool website: http://www.mixman.com/ Listening to: Godflesh - Defiled Podcast enclosure: Software... 2008-01-21 The most common question I get is what software do I use. So Im going to go through my list and tell you how I use them. I am strictly self taught and I never had any formal training in the art of recording. I began researching software and downloading demos... Sonic Foundry Acid 2.0 ![]() This was my first program I used back in 1998. I used it to create Ends, Dance the Night Away, Ends part 2 (shrill mix), Faded (trip mix). I found this program easy to use and I really liked it. It was very simple but a powerful tool for mixing, recording, and arranging. Keep in mind when I first started out my mixes sounded terrible. It took a lot of time and effort to get good at making music this way. I always encourage others to keep at it and experimenting. To this day I consider myself a work in progress, so dont give up! Today I still use Acid as my master software, but I have upgraded since then. I now use.... Sony Acid Music Studio 5.0 ![]() ![]() Techno Ejay ![]() ![]() ![]() Techno Ejay I thought was another easy to use software. Not only did you have a large sample bank you could make your own too. I made a ton of drum and effect samples in Ejay and I would use them in Acid. Here are some of the songs I made, Glow, Gloating, Desolate Silence, Lost, Slow Ride and more. I still have the software but I do not use it as much. Fruityloops 7 ![]() Fruityloops 7 is awsome. I use it for sample making and sound design. It looks difficult to use but it really isnt. There is so much you can do with it too. Some people use FL7 as their master software, but I preffer Acid 5.0. Over all I think it is one of the best programs out there. I made a lot of dark strings like Death is the Way and fuckedup extended intro. More will follow in the future. Magix Music Studio 7 ![]() ![]() I bought this for $15.00 and at the time I was using Cakewalk music Creator. I didnt really care for Cakewalk and for some reason I had trouble running it on my pc. Some people on the other hand really like it. To each their own I say! What I used Magix and Cakewalk was for live guitar recordings. I had a HP computer which I ran a mic from. I'd set the mic in front of my amp and capture my sound. Magix worked perfectly and I loved the mastering features. I recorded For MJ, Fuck Yeah!, The Calling, Breakdown, using Magix. By recording this way I learned you got to watch your volume levels and where you put your mic matters. Boss BR-1180 Digital Recorder (Hardware) ![]() I currently use this for all of my guitar recordings. It's portable and I can record anywhere with it. It was definatly worth buying. Mixman Studio Pro 4.0 ![]() I got this cheap at Staples too. Every now and then I like to toy with it, but I do not use it very much. It is very easy to use plus it's fun to play with. You can do remixes, sound design and much more with this software. I keep it around as one of my music creation toys just for fun. They do have new software up so I suggest you check it out. Cakewalk Pyro 5.0 ![]() Once again I got this cheap at Staples. Basically I use it to enhance finished songs and to keep track of all my music. I also like the fx you can add to a song plus you can do a lot more too. My Custom Loop Library & Samples Click to Comment Tags:
Guitar Influences... | |

cool website: http://www.earache.com/ Listening to: Skrape - New Killer America - Waste Podcast enclosure: Guitar Influences... 2008-01-21 Cyqo MusicI have been playing guitar since I was 12. Just like everyone else I started off with a 6 string Harmony acoustic guitar. I had already been playing alto, then tenor sax in the school band and I had 5 years of band under my belt. Marching band really sucks so I gave up the sax for the guitar. I did Jazz band instead... One of my favorite bands is Godflesh - Songs of Love and Hate. ![]() This was their fourth album which I really liked and I had to learn all of the guitar parts. ![]() I loved playing those songs on the low end of the guitar. In order to play them you have to drop your guitar to C, C#. I really like having the deep distorted low end sound and apply catchy chunky riffs. Which leads me to my next favorite Helmet - I have all of their albums. ![]() More Favorites.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As time grew I kept learning new songs and I finally got my first Ibanez guitar. Soon after I ended up getting a second Ibanez guitar. I got it for $100.00 with a case and extras. The GIO Series I liked for playing mellow songs. I put on D'addario Chrome strings and I had a variety of low tuning arrangments as well. ![]() I currently play an Ibanez RG 7 String. ![]() Click to Comment Tags:
