State of Cyqo Music...

2008-02-09

I wanted to give you the low down on what has been going on lately. This blog will be chocked full of opportunities, and I want to know some information. I will be sending out a message to everybody on the site.

So where are we at with CYQO MUSIC?

Well, it is my honest opinion that when I am done thinking of ideas for this site I should just pack it in and call it quits. With that said I have a laundry list that should keep me busy well into 2015. Compile that with the absolutely genius ideas I get from the users my schedule is booked up until 2020. The first thing I want to know from you is this:

Are you here for Gigs, Press, or Just hanging out to see what happens? I have a few ideas for each of these responses, and I am trying to figure out which to do first.

Second, BUZZBIN Magazine

http://www.buzzbinmagazine.com

If you haven't heard, Buzzbin is going to be a month magazine featuring the newest of new music. We are just trying to get the word out about some ofthe great music on this site. So send use Press Kits, or EPKs to listen to. If you want your EP or Album reviewed then send it in. If you are just looking for a little press make that be known too!

The most important thing you can get me are hi res pics. If you are out with your band and you guys are grocery shopping acting goofy, and the pics are in hi res, send em in! That kind of stuff is exactly what Buzzbin is made of! We also need to know exactly who everybody is in the photo, so due credit can be given. I hope you get the idea.

Also, if you want to schedule a drop point in your hometown let me know. We want to get this thing out Nationwide! I just need a name and adress of business to know where to send it.

With that said, last night we just hired the Assistant Editor for the magazine. Her name is Angel, and she knows her stuff. We had a nice conversation for a few hours last night about the goals of the magazine, and how it ties in with the site. Who makes a magazine about a website? No one, that's who. Like I told her, this site is here to innovate. And that is what we plan to do. So Buzzbin is well on its way! You guys should subscribe (it is free besides shipping cost), help us offset this budget, sheesh!

What is next for Cyqo?

Right now I am working on a FREE account upgrade for any record label. It has some perks that the Artist, and Fan accounts don't have like being able to attach a pic with a song, and so on. Another great user suggestion.

Also, I won't lie; The artist to fan ratio on the site is grossly disproportional. But, man, this is a great community so far. Anyway, I have the other programmer working on a Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! inviter. This way you can invite your contact list with a click of a button. Bring in the fans I say!

Ok, so let me summarize and let me tell you what I need from YOU.

1. Let me know why you are here. Gigs, Press, or some other reason. (message me or comment)
2. Send in your stuff to Buzzbin Magzine if you want in. http://www.buzzbinmagazine.com

Thanks,

Mike

Blog Comments on State of Cyqo Music...

I would have to say press, and listener comments. I like being able to find out what people like and are listening to. So when people comment on my music it lets me know what I am doing right and what I can be doing better when I make a song. I also like exchanging information with other artist for tips, tricks, gear review, etc.

As a listener/fan I love comming on this site and hearing new music and adding it to my player.

I agree with Letterstothedevil and will add that this site is what its musicians and listeners make it. It can be a great tool for promoting and getting to know your fan base.
