Benny's wedding was really a good time. I've never had so many people going "Hey, are you CYQO Mike?" Hahah, man it made me laugh. I got to talk to so many of the people who visit CYQO.COM everyday and it was fun. Little did they know I would talk about the site for hours on end, but anyway, I'm not starting again.

I also got to meet his brother Robert, and Robert's wife. They are a blogging couple. And the blogs are really interesting man, I can't say that enough.


I've been checking out Robert's blog for a few years now on a weekly basis. If you want to see some of the coolest pictures in the world, check him out. Its a true blue blog and I like it.

Ok well I am out to return this tux and get my deposit back...I hope. Check out the new pics!

Heading out to Benny's Wedding

Benny R.I.P. 2008


Ha! Just kidding, well sort of. Today Benny is getting married. Never fear, I will be there to give him away. I've been pumping him full of confidence boosters too. Like "Dude, lets take steal the Hummer, and head to Mexico." or "Ok man, I got like two grand in my checking account, lets head to Canada and not look back" but, he is determined.

I still think I might steal that Hummer for an hour though. My two grand can get my around the block and back with these gas prices....whats up with that anyway?

I'll take pics, and add them to the gallery I started on my pics page. You'll get to see us all snazzy dressed up in some tuxedos...whoo hooo!

Yes ladies, by 2pm Benny will be out of your grasp forever. But not me. Who am I kidding?

New Skin

Well folks, the new design is 95% in place. I hope you feel it does you justice and your proud to send people to your homepage.

This design took about 4 weeks to build, and I want to thank Marc from Entrance Media for putting a lot of time and effort into trying to make things obvious and simple, yet entertaining to the users. I think it looks pretty kick ass.

Now, I said its 95% complete because as I browse through some of the admin page etc, things just look a little off centered etc...I'll be working on the growing pains around the clock as soon as I get back from grabbing a coffee ;)

So, love it or hate it, the new design is here to stay!

As you will see the Gig Tracker is live across all public areas of the site, so get those shows on there... people are stopping by from your area as I type this!

Take it easy, I'll have another blog entry in a little bit!

Question: Do these guys currently have a label?

Hey quick question to get the Blog of the Week going...We are talking about Record Labels, specifically Major Record Labels.

I think its pretty much confirmed that Radiohead and Trent Reznor have dumped their labels and are releasing new material on their own. I'm going to choose to believe that this is not a lame stunt by the majors, and assume they really are without label. But who else is going this route that I haven't heard of?

Some names that have been mentioned but not confirmed are Paul McCartney, Billie Joe Armstrong(Greenday), and Eddie Vedder(Pearl Jam).

Know anyone else?

There are two sides to every story, you hear the established musicians in the industry telling bands to go with an independent label, because they say the majors will just screw you. And then I hear from some independent acts that they want to sign with one of these major labels so they can get a chance to be "big time". But what happens when a label picks you up and puts you on the shelf for a few years, owns your music, merchandising etc and then drops you. It sucks, but its happens probably more times than not....

CYQO.COM News

Hi everybody I just wanted to give you some news on stuff that has been going on behind the scenes @ CYQO.COM.

CYQO.COM Design

Usually when these sites get redesigned it is because they just feel like a different look. Not me, I just want to make it easier for me to get people where they want to go. So we are overhauling a portion of the front page, and don't worry nothing is going away, just adding to it and trying to entice people to jump into the music a little more. Bear with me, its a big look change but I am positive this is a step in the growth process. New styles for you guys all on the way.

Radio Play for Everybody

This weekend I will be talking with a few guys about integrating a website on CYQO.COM which will let fans(and artists) make internet radio stations out of the music on CYQO.COM. These radio stations can be placed on your Cyqo page, Myspace, homepage, blog etc. So if you are a user, and you want your own radio station then you will be able to do it here out of music from CYQO.COM. Pretty neat I think, and a great way to get YOUR music out across blogs that fit your style.

Gig Tracker

I finished up the Location detection tool yesterday, so things are in order to promote gigs. If you haven't added your Gigs yet in Gig Tracker then go do it now!


Unsigned the Magazine:

If you haven't noticed by now, Unsigned the Magazine is all over our site like flies on stink. And the number one complaint I get from them is: Whay don't artists put in contact info??? I have no answer. So that is basically a missed opportunity for a lot of people. Anyway, be sure to give some info about yourself, we aren't just another music hosting site...

Buzzbin Magazine:

Hey, guess what? The first issue is almost done! Man this thing kicks ass and looks nice too. We are hoping to have everything wrapped up by the 10th, and send it out to be put together and then printed. The Buzzbin Magazine website is well underway too.

GIG TRACKER

Hey everybody I wanted to drop you a line that the CYQO.COM GIG TRACKER is live on the site. It will be on artist homepages here very soon. I will be sending out an e-mail containing this info shortly.

At this stage of the game you can enter in your shows, and they will show up on your homepage and across the entire gig tracker section. In a week or two when we get the new snazzy homepage style up then the gig tracker will detect where the visitor is from and present them with your show if they are in your area. This technology works with up to 97% accuracy, and there will be a place for people to choose to view shows by location as well.

So, get those shows up!

PODCAST HELP NOW!

We need your help with the podcast ASAP! We need you guys to record shorts snippets about who you are and what you do.

You've heard Taylor from We Are Automatic, and Atti from Drop Alive, the guys of Snew and even Dan Raider mastermind of Dr. Boggles doing these so get in on the action!

Just record something and get it to me! Podcast is tomorrow night so sooner the better.

A good starting place is "Hi this is ____ and YOU are listening to the Cyqo Music Hour Podcast". You can also record other stuff as well, we use anything and everything.

Also, if you want to be interviewed just let me know. We'll get you on the show.
