About Squee-Jay & The Hampster Band
With comical lyrics taking cue from every day life, hard hitting, fast beats, and classic pop-punk power chords, Squee-Jay and the Hampster Band emerged onto the South Bend punk scene in late 2006. Brandon Galloway started the band as an acoustic project in his bedroom, writing songs with satirical lyrics and catchy hooks with friends Mike Martin (Mikey Romance) and Dave Rogers (Davey) singing backup vocals. The project quickly took steam as their song "Stinky Joe" became popular amongst MySpace users. Davey joined the project on guitar, Brandon traded in his guitar for his bass, and they brought Mikey, a grade school friend of Brandon's, back to play drums. Squee-Jay is greatly influenced by the pop-punk bands that were the staple in the early to mid 90's.
Squee-Jay and the Hampster Band have had two self-released demos over the last year, ranging from their old acoustic songs to their newest material. Fowler recorded their latest demo in the fall of 2007 before he joined the band. Songs from that demo are currently available on their MySpace page and will appear on their upcoming full-length EP. The band is actively playing shows in the South Bend area and is in talks about a mini-tour around the Midwest. |
