Skribbal (born December 26th, 1991) is a Christian underground hip-hop artist based in Los Angeles County, CA. Skribbal's style blends a varying tone and delivery with subject matter that focuses on intricate sequences of widely varying imagery, metaphors, the occasional pun, catchy hooks, absurdist, intricate word play often times in the form of phonetic mix-ups and rhetorical excursions, and pop culture references, while including touchstones of traditional hip hop such as storytelling and self-promotion.
Skribbal has stated that he will never lie in his songs. "I believe that if you have to lie in your lyrics, well, then you shouldn't even be writing." Currently, Skribbal is working on his debut full-length (20 track) LP, scheduled for a summer or fall release, on his own label LifeLite Records. Some of the collaborations will be with fellow LifeLite Records artist' Risen Tunes, also Research, Curvine, and more.
"The album is coming out really great so far. I cant wait to release it, to let people here what I have to say, and what I have to bring to the underground hip hop scene." Indeed, Skribbal insists on being taken very seriously as an underground Emcee. "Something about underground hip hop just really sparks my interest. I love the whole underground sound, feel, and tone of the music. Whether it be underground rap, or underground metal.
"I just love the whole experience. But, the main thing with my music is that I may incorporate a couple influences into my style," Skribbal has been compared to the likes of Sage Francis, Playdough, and Mars Ill, "but, I really do try to be original with all of it. A lot of people don't think, nor had any idea at least, that I did Christian hip hop. But, that's ok. I can't stand people who come on too strong, you know too preachy. As long as I can get the message across, even without the listener realizing that he or she's listening to Christian message, that will satisfy me."
