abbott station is an up and coming new country music group, made up of brother and sister, Damon Johnston and Carrie Alexander. We’re trying to bring something fresh to country music…siblings who not only blend soulful voices with outstanding family harmony, but are also songwriters.
We grew up all over the world as “military brats”, moving around when our father received a new Air Force assignment. Our father is an accomplished guitar picker and has played in bands throughout his Air Force career. In our house we were always listening to country or country gospel music, usually with dad picking on the guitar and mom singing along. When our father retired from the military, we moved back home to Zephyrhills, Florida to be around the rest of the family. It was common for the whole family to sing together every weekend. Over the years, we have sung in our family church, the Florida club circuit, even the Nashville Quartet Convention; where Damon won the National Talent Search, adult division, when he was 12 years old.
While growing up we predominantly listened to country music; however, our influences range from Merle Haggard, Kenny Hinson, to Bon Jovi. All of our influences can be heard on the album, yet the sound we’ve created is all our own. Until recently, we mainly sang separately as each of us moved away from home, started our own lives, careers, and families. Still, in our hearts, music was our first love. Now, we’ve finally decided to sing together, and bring something fresh to country music…a true family act made up of a brothers and his sister.
